Old Dominion University is an urban public institution that was founded in 1930. Originally created as a division of the College of William and Mary, Old Dominion University is now an independent institution in Norfolk, Virginia. Students have more than 100 academic programs to choose from and, outside of class, more than 300 clubs and organizations to consider.

ODU Research and Technology

ODU is committed to research and operates the Center for Accelerator Science, the Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center, and the Frank Reidy Research Center for Bioelectrics. ODU is classified as a Carnegie Research Institution with a “higher” research activity classification. ODU’s total R&D expenditures amounted to $50.4 million in FY 2016.
